New Delhi: Sharad Kumar Sharma (IDSE) has been selected for appointment as Director in the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) on September 29. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been selected for appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Sharma is an Indian Defence Service of Engineers (IDSE) officer of the 1994 batch. He was recommended for Central deputation by the Ministry of Defence. “He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Central Vigilance Commission,” the order read.

Shailendra Kumar (IRS) appointed Deputy Secretary in CVC

In a separate order, the DoPT also announced that Shailendra Kumar (IRS) has been selected for appointment as Deputy Secretary in the CVC. He has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Central Vigilance Commission (CVC)

The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) is an apex governmental body created to address governmental corruption. The Parliament enacted a law conferring statutory status on the CVC in 2003. It has the status of an autonomous body, free of control from any executive authority, charged with monitoring all vigilance activity under the Central government, advising various authorities in the Central government organisations in planning, executing, reviewing and reforming their vigilance work.
