New Delhi: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence, has announced the appointment of Kamesh Kasana as Director (Other Units) on its Board with effect from July 14.

According to an official communication issued to the stock exchanges, the appointment was made by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, vide its letter dated July 14, 2025. The BEL Board approved his appointment through a circular resolution on the same date. Kasana replaces the outgoing official in the position of Director (Other Units).

Kamesh Kasana, a veteran in the defence electronics sector, joined BEL in 1993 and brings with him over three decades of experience in the field. Throughout his career, he has played a key role in the indigenisation, modernisation, and strategic expansion of BEL’s offerings, contributing significantly to India’s defence capabilities.

An alumnus of NIT Kurukshetra with a B Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Kasana also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration. He is certified in Six Sigma (Green Belt, DMAIC) and is a Project Management Professional (PMP), demonstrating a rare blend of technical, managerial, and strategic acumen.

In his previous role as General Manager and Business Head of the Military Communication Strategic Business Unit at BEL's Bengaluru Complex, Kasana led the unit to exceed ₹1,000 crore in turnover within a short span. His initiatives in operational restructuring, product innovation, and enhanced customer engagement have contributed to BEL’s sustainable business growth.

He has also been at the helm of key defence programmes such as the Indian Army’s Akashteer system and battlefield surveillance solutions, as well as C4I systems for the Indian Navy. His leadership helped BEL secure major orders worth several thousand crores while strengthening ties with MSMEs and start-ups in line with the national Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.

As Director (Other Units), Kasana aims to transform BEL’s regional units into hubs of technological excellence and global competitiveness. His focus areas include innovation in R\&D, AI, autonomous systems, space technology, and quantum computing; improving operational efficiency; fortifying the supply chain; enhancing collaboration with organisations like DRDO and ISRO; and advancing BEL’s commitment to sustainability and renewable energy.

Kasana does not have any relationship with other directors of the company and is not disqualified from holding the post under applicable laws. His appointment is for a period of five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
