

New Delhi: BEML Limited has appointed Shankar Lal Agrawal, Karunakaran Nambiar K. and Promila Kundara as Independent Directors on its Board. The information has been shared by the defence PSU in a regulatory filing by the defence public sector undertaking on Friday.

As per BEML, Shankar Lal Agrawal and Karunakaran Nambiar K. were appointed with effect from August 18, 2026, while Promila Kundara joined the Board with effect from August 21, 2026.
Agrawal holds a Master of Commerce (M.Com.) degree and has experience in education, community development, social welfare and rural development.
Since 2014, he has been serving as Founder and President of Shram Shrijan Samaj Sevi Sanstha, a registered society involved in education promotion, community development, public service, skill development and social outreach.
His areas of experience include rural and community development, social welfare, healthcare support, humanitarian assistance and public service.

Karunakaran Nambiar K. is a law graduate with more than 34 years of legal practice across Civil and Criminal Courts, Family Court, DCRC and tribunals.
He has served as Additional Standing Counsel for the Government of India at Kasaragod for three years. He has also held several positions in the cooperative and legal sectors, including Senate Member at Kannur University, Chairman of Kasaragod Co-operative Urban Bank, Director at Kasaragod District Co-operative Bank and Director at CAMPCO.
He has also served as President of Bandadka Agricultural Marketing & Processing Co-operative Society and Secretary of the Bar Association, Kasaragod. He is a legal adviser to State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Kerala Gramin Bank, Federal Bank and Southern Railway.
Promila Kundara holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree and is qualified in naturopathy. During her academic years, she participated in athletics at the district level in shot put, javelin and discus throw, besides badminton. She also participated in the NCC All-India Trekking Camp.
Kundara is a former Member of the Legislative Assembly, having represented the Chaksu constituency in Jaipur from 2008 to 2013. She continues to be actively involved in social welfare initiatives.
