New Delhi: BEML Limited marked a significant milestone in India's journey towards defence indigenisation with the induction of the Mechanical Minefield Marking Equipment Mark–II (MMME Mk-II) into the Indian Army. MMME Mk-II is an Indian Army system designed to quickly and semi-automatically mark and fence minefields.
The induction ceremony witnessed the participation of BEML's Director (Defence and Mining & Construction) Sanjay Som, who interacted with Lt. Gen. Arvind Walia, AVSM, Engineer-in-Chief of Indian Army, along with senior Army officials, scientists from Research & Development Establishment (Engineers) R&DE (E), DRDO, and representatives from industry partners.
Jointly developed by R&DE(E), DRDO, and manufactured by BEML, the MMME Mk-II is a cutting-edge system engineered for the rapid marking and fencing of minefields with minimal human involvement. The equipment is designed to function effectively in diverse terrains including desert, semi-desert, and plains, thereby improving operational readiness and enhancing the safety of Indian Army personnel.
This induction is a testimony to the collaborative strength between India’s armed forces, DRDO, and indigenous defence manufacturers like BEML under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. It also reinforces BEML’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-performance, self-reliant defence solutions in support of national security.
