Biju George gets 1 month extension as MDL CMD

New Delhi: The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has approved the tenure extension of Biju George as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) for a period of one month. The decision has been conveyed through an official communication dated March 26, 2025.

According to the MoD's directive, George will continue to hold the additional charge of the CMD position for a period of one month, effective from April 1, 2025. His tenure will remain in effect until a regular appointee assumes charge, or until further orders are issued, whichever occurs earlier.

George has been serving as Director (Shipbuilding) with additional charge of Director (Finance) and CMD since March 1, 2025. He holds a post graduate degree in Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He has three decades of experience with MDL where two decades were with design of frontline warships viz. Missile Destroyers and Frigates.

Prior to his appointment as Director (Shipbuilding), he was the project Superintendent of the prestigious P17A Frigate Program for the Indian Navy. Prior to this, he has been heading the Shipbuilding Design Department of MDL.
