New Delhi: Biju George is set to be the next Director (Shipbuilding) of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MSDL), a Miniratna Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence. He has been recommended for the post by a panel of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), a public sector head hunter body. He is currently serving as General Manager (SB – Design) in the same organisation. Currently, Vice Admiral Narayan Prasad, (IN Retd) is serving as Director (Shipbuilding) of MSDL.
George has been recommended for the post of Director (Shipbuilding) of MSDL from a list of seven candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. Out of seven candidates, four candidates were from MSDL, two candidates from the Indian Navy and one candidate was from Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), also a Defence PSU.
As Director (Shipbuilding) of MSDL, George will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He also will be responsible to ensure timely deliveries of all surface ships; maintaining high-quality standards and planning, directing and coordinating aII production and other activities related to shipbuilding.
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MSDL) is a Miniratna Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence. The current objectives of the PSU are to build state-of-art warships and submarines for the Indian Navy, focus on diversification into activities of Ship repair and export to international markets, expansion and augmentation of infrastructures to build next-generation warships and to sustain the technological leadership in defence shipyards and also to enhance indigenization process in line with 'Make in India' policy.
