New Delhi: B.P. Singh has assumed charge as Director General of Naval Armament (DGONA) at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi, with effect from March 1.

An officer of the 1994 batch of the Indian Naval Armament Service (INAS), Singh succeeds Divakar Jayant, who superannuated on February 28, 2026, after a distinguished tenure.

A Mechanical Engineering graduate from National Institute of Technology Patna (formerly Bihar College of Engineering), Singh brings over three decades of extensive experience in the Naval Armament Organisation. Prior to taking over as DGONA, he served as Chief General Manager at Naval Armament Depot (NAD), Mumbai, where he led key operational, logistics and infrastructure initiatives.

Over the course of his career, Singh has held several critical assignments across major establishments, including NAD Visakhapatnam, NAD Mumbai and NAD Trombay. He has also served at the Directorate General of Naval Armament at Naval Headquarters, contributing to policy formulation and strategic planning. In addition, his tenure as Chief General Manager at NAD Aluva was marked by improvements in operational efficiency and depot management practices.

Singh has significant expertise in the management of conventional armaments, ammunition and guided weapon systems of the Indian Navy, with experience spanning procurement, storage, maintenance, safety, logistics and lifecycle support of complex weapon platforms—areas crucial to enhancing operational readiness.

An alumnus of the National Defence College, Singh has undergone advanced training in strategic and national security studies, further strengthening his leadership profile.
