The contract, awarded by DRDO under the Ministry of Defence, is scheduled for completion by December 2028. The project involves the development and validation of satellite terminals that are crucial for enabling secure, reliable and mission-critical satellite-based communications for defence and strategic applications.
Satellite terminals form a key component of modern defence communication networks, ensuring seamless connectivity, operational readiness and secure information exchange across military platforms. The development of these systems aligns with DRDO’s ongoing efforts to strengthen India's self-reliance in critical defence technologies and enhance the country's strategic communication infrastructure.
As India's premier defence research and development agency, DRDO plays a central role in developing indigenous technologies and systems aimed at bolstering national security and reducing dependence on foreign suppliers.
Commenting on the contract award, Siddhartha Abburi, Director of Avantel Limited, said the company was honoured to be selected by DRDO for the project and remained committed to delivering advanced communication solutions that support India's strategic and defence requirements.
