The event was graced by Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN (Retd), Director (Shipbuilding), GRSE; and Jonas Meinhardt, Managing Director, Carsten Rehder. Also present were Capt (IN) P Sunilkumar (Retd), Director (Corporate Planning & Personnel), GRSE; Niranjan Bhalerao, Director (Finance), GRSE; Fabian Greve, Commercial Director, Carsten Rehder; Helge Voigt, Chief Executive Officer, Technology, senior GRSE officials, and representatives from the German shipping firm.

This project represents GRSE’s first major export order for MPVs and underscores its growing stature as a competitive player in the international commercial shipbuilding sector. The MPV programme aims to deliver a modern series of high-performance vessels under the CORAL 7500 DWT MPV series, a collaborative effort between GRSE and Carsten Rehder.

The initial contract for four vessels was signed on June 22, with additional agreements subsequently expanding the order to twelve vessels. The final contracts, covering the ninth to twelfth ships, were signed on September 19.

Each MPV will measure 120 metres in length, 17 metres in beam, and 5.85 metres in draught, with a carrying capacity of 7,500 metric tonnes. The ships are designed with a large single cargo hold suitable for bulk, general, and project cargoes. They also feature the capability to transport containers on hatch covers and accommodate multiple large windmill blades on deck, enhancing flexibility and operational efficiency.

The technical design expertise has been provided by M/s SEDS in partnership with GRSE, and all ships will be certified by DNV, the globally renowned classification society.
