MCGS Barracuda, an offshore patrol vessel of the Mauritius National Coast Guard, was originally built by GRSE and commissioned in Port Louis on March 12, 2015. The commissioning was a landmark event, coinciding with Mauritius’ National Day, and was attended by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Mauritius Anerood Jugnauth. This vessel holds the distinction of being the first export warship constructed and delivered by an Indian shipyard, marking a milestone in India’s shipbuilding capabilities.

This development follows the successful refit of the Seychelles National Coast Guard Vessel PS Zoroaster, which was completed on May 25, 2024—one month ahead of schedule. The timely completion earned commendations from India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the National Coast Guard of Seychelles, further cementing GRSE’s credibility in international ship maintenance projects.
