New Delhi: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to set up a state-of-the-art “HAL-SAI High-Performance Centre” in Bengaluru. The facility will be located at SAI’s Netaji Subhas Southern Centre and is part of HAL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at boosting India's sporting achievements.
The MoU has been formalized in the presence of HAL's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Dr DK Sunil; HAL's Independent Director Dr Divya Gupta; HAL's Director (HR) AB Pradhan; Joint CEO of TOPS Col. Rakesh Yadav; SAI's Regional Director Vishnu Sudhakaran; and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports' Under Secretary Kamkhan Singh.
The proposed HAL-SAI High-Performance Centre will leverage cutting-edge science and technology to enhance athletic performance. It will house advanced facilities in key domains such as anthropometry, biomechanics, sports and exercise biochemistry, nutrition, physiology, psychology, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, and physiotherapy. The initiative aims to provide athletes with the tools and resources needed to excel on the global stage, including international events like the Olympics.
HAL has a longstanding tradition of supporting sports in India. In partnership with SAI, it operates the HAL-SAI Sports Training Centre in Koraput, Odisha, which focuses on training tribal youth in archery, football, and athletics. The company has also established a football academy in Bengaluru, featuring FIFA-standard facilities, to identify and nurture young talent.
This latest initiative represents a significant milestone in HAL’s CSR efforts to elevate India’s sporting ecosystem. “The HAL-SAI High Performance Centre is a testament to our commitment to empowering India’s athletes with world-class facilities and opportunities,” said a HAL representative.
HAL’s CSR initiatives extend beyond sports development. The company has undertaken various projects across health, drinking water, sanitation, education, skill development, rural development, renewable energy, and livelihood enhancement.
With the establishment of this high-performance centre, HAL continues to demonstrate its dedication to fostering national pride and contributing to India’s growth story.
