
New Delhi: Hari Kumar R is set to be next Director (Research & Development) of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Defence. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) Panel on Saturday. Presently, he is serving as General Manager (Technology Planning) in the same organisation.
Kumar has been recommended for the post of Director (R&D) of BEL from a list of seven candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB Selection Panel in its 8th selection meeting of 2025, held on February 1. Out of seven candidates, six candidates were from BEL itself and one candidate was from Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
As Director (R&D) of BEL, Kumar will be a member of board of directors of BEL. He will report directly to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) and will be responsible for shaping BEL's R&D policies and steering the company's technological advancements to uphold its status in the electronics and defence industries. His core responsibilities include developing innovative strategies, closely monitoring domestic and international technology trends, and ensuring alignment with India's "Atma Nirbhar Bharat" self-reliance initiative.
