S Damodar Bhattad appointed as Director (Finance) of BEL

New Delhi: S Damodar Bhattad has been appointed as Director (Finance) of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratana PSU under the Ministry of Defence. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by the Prime Minister, has approved his appointment on Monday. According to an order issued on January 9, from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Bhattad has been appointed to the post for a period with effect the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation i.e. December 31, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Bhattad was recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of BEL by the PESB panel on July 22, 2022. He was selected for the post from a list of four candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB panel. Presently, he is serving as General Manager in the same Navratna Defence PSU.

As Director (Finance) of BEL, Bhattad will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD). He will be overall in charge of the finance and accounts functions of the organisation and will be responsible for evolving and formulating finance policies as well as implementation.
