New Delhi: Sanjay Jaju (IAS) has been appointed as Government Nominee Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDSL), a Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence. He is currently serving as Additional Secretary of the Department of Defence Production. Jaju has been appointed to the post with effect from November 24 in place of VL Kantha Rao, Ex- Additional Secretary (Defence Production). This information has been shared by the Defence PSU during a regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Thursday.

Sanjay Jaju's profile 

Jaju is a 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Telangana cadre. Currently, he is serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Defence Production (DDP) under the Ministry of Defence. He holds a postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Cost & Management Accountant and an MBA in Finance by background. He had worked in diverse areas like urban, infrastructure, civil supplies, education and tribal welfare. He has been an ardent advocate of information technology for development and governance which reflects in his stint with DDP. Jaju has played a remarkable role in establishing iDEX (Innovation for Defence Excellence) which is an ecosystem that fosters Innovation and Technology Development for Defence and Aerospace. iDEX is funded and managed by a Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO) which has been formed as a "not for profit‟ company as per Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013. Jaju has held as Govt Nominee Director of Mishra Dhatu Nigam (MIDHANI), before his appointment in MDSL.

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDSL), aptly called "Ship Builder to the Nation", is one of India's leading Defence PSU shipyard under the Ministry of Defence. Main activities of the company are the construction of warships and submarines with facilities situated at Mumbai and Nhava (under development). It has the capability to build warships, submarines, merchant ships up to 40,000 DWT since 1979. For outfitting work, the company has a large number of workshops with sophisticated equipment and machines specific to hull fabrication and ship construction work.
