New Delhi: The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) is mulling major expansion of its infrastructure in order to push its annual passenger handling capacity from 75 million to 100 million by 2022, an official statement said on Monday.

Phase 3A to be completed by 2022

The 'Phase 3A' infrastructure expansion — under which DIAL plans to construct a fourth runway, expand T1 apron area and develop dual elevated Eastern Cross Taxiway — would be completed by June 2022, the statement released by DIAL said.

DIAL aims to push passenger handling capacity

"These works, upon completion, would not only increase the passenger handling capacity of Delhi airport to 100 million passengers per annum (MPPA) in the next three years, but also enhance the airside capacity to handle 140 MPPA," the DIAL said.

The authority added that L&T has been entrusted the entire engineering, procurement and construction works of Phase 3A.
