Devinder Kumar set to be Director in Department of Rural Development

New Delhi: Devinder Kumar is set to be Director in the Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Rural Development. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Traning (DoPT), Kumar has been selected for appointment as Director in the Department of Rural Development, Delhi, under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Kumar is an Indian Defence Service of Engineers (IDSE) officer of 1997 batch. He was recommended for Central deputation by the Ministry of Defence.

Department of Rural Development

The Department of Rural Development is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Rural Development. The department runs three national-level schemes: Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for rural roads development, Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) for rural employment and for rural housing and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. It handles the administration of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), and has three autonomous organisations under it:

• Council of Advancement of People's Action and Rural Technology (CAPART)
• National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD)
• National Rural Road Development Agency (NRRDA)
