New Delhi: Digambar Sahai has been appointed as Director (Production) of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment on Wednesday.

According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Sahai has been appointed to the post of Director (Production) of BVFCL for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till August 31, 2022, i.e. the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Currently, he is serving as Deputy General Manager in the same organisation. For someone to be appointed as Director from the post of DGM tells the extraordinary capability of the employee.

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Sahai was recommended for the post of Director (Production) of BVFCL by the PESB panel on June 25. He was selected from the list of three candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel. All the candidates who were on the list were from BVFCL.

New role & responsibility

As Director (Production) at BVFCL, Sahai will act as the head of the Production and Operations Division of the company. His principal responsibility will be to exercise control for the efficient operations of the plants of the company in a manner that would ensure optimum utilization of resources.

Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL)

The Namrup Fertilizer Complex was renamed as Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) after bi-furcation from Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited (HFCL) from April 1, 2002. It is located on the bank of the Dilli river in the south-western border of Dibrugarh district in Assam. It is the first fertilizer factory in India that uses natural gas as basic raw material for producing nitrogenous fertilizer. BVFCL is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Department of Fertilizers, with 100 percent shareholding of the government of India.
