Lucknow: Lucknow Metro organized handing over ceremony of the campaign ‘Book Daan’ at Hazratganj Metro Station which began nearly two month ago. In collaboration with BIG FM 94.3 and Robinhood Army, Lucknow Metro placed collection boxes for the underprivileged at five metro stations - Bhootnath, Vishwavidyalaya, Hazratganj, Charbagh and Alambagh. The Robinhood Army activists present at the event pledged to collect books from these boxes and distribute them among the underprivileged.
Lucknow Metro had started the book collection campaign keeping in mind the end of the session in schools and colleges and summer holidays. Metro passengers enthusiastically donated the books in the collection boxes and praised the initiative taken by Lucknow Metro. In the last two months, many metro commuters have collected and brought their old books to these Metro Stations for donation drive.
Speaking on the occassion, Managing Director of the UPMRC Sushil Kumar said “I am very thankful to Lucknow Metro commuters for participating in the ‘Bookdaan’ campaign. Books collected at the station will help in educating kids who could not afford books due to financial constraints. In the recent past Lucknow Metro has organized various such events where goods were collected for the distribution among underprivileged. I appeal to NGOs to join hands with UPMRC to organize such events in future.
