New Delhi: India's largest stainless steel manufacturer, Jindal Stainless, has received an endorsement from the Capital Goods Skill Council (CGSC), a government's initiative for a vibrant eco-system for quality training and skill development. CGSC has recognised efforts made by Jindal Stainless in advancing stainless steel fabrication training programmes, conducted across the country, to train grass-root level fabricators and welders in stainless steel handling. Bridging the market-skill gap and building capacity through the delivery of training programs under the banner 'Stainless Academy', Jindal Stainless has been successful in training over 10,000 fabricators till date.

Acknowledging this endorsement by CGSC, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless Abhyuday Jindal said, "Promotion and recognition of 'Stainless Academy' by the government will help minimize the skill-opportunity gap in India. Jindal Stainless is committed to scaling up efforts towards training a large number of fabricators and improving the overall quality of fabrication. Our aim is to help develop a sustainable and self-sufficient ecosystem for manufacturing and adoption of stainless steel in the country. Considering the government's Atmanirbhar Vision, fabricators will play a crucial role in infrastructure and building projects. Over and above imparting practical training through our unique vans, we have stepped up efforts to reach out to students in their classrooms by introducing academic courses in IITs to educate and better equip future engineers and architects."

Commenting on the endorsement CGSC 's Chief Operating Officer Shalini Singh said, "CGSC consistently endeavours to develop a robust and vibrant eco-system for quality training and skill development in the country. This novel initiative by Jindal Stainless is a promising step that will boost the skill set of grass-root level fabricators across the country, and also help augment their livelihood incomes. We are ready to extend all our support to Jindal Stainless in developing this skill inventory."

Contributing to the CGSC's vision of facilitating the development of practical and high-quality training, Jindal Stainless has developed four flagship stainless steel showcase vans that travel across the length and breadth of the country, spreading awareness among households and industries. Through this endeavour, the company aims to inform, educate, and train future workforce in the health, hygiene, ecological, lifecycle costing and other benefits of using stainless steel. With a dedicated set of highly trained staff, these vans are also used for live demos and training to fabricators. These vans have also been recognised and supported by government bodies like the Ministry of Steel under 'Ispati Irada' and 'Skill India' by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), a government body.

As per CGSC, the Capital Goods sector has a multiplier effect on the economy and is responsible for providing critical input to other industries. The capital goods industry contributes 12 percent to the total manufacturing activity which translates to about 1.8 percent of GDP. As per an estimate by CGSC, the projected workforce requirement in this sector by 2022 will be nearly 40 lakh.
