New Delhi: Northern Coalfields Limited's (NCL) Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Bhola Singh has been felicitated with the distinguished Alumni Award 2023 of IIT Kharagpur at the 69th convocation of the Institute in the presence of the President of India Draupadi Murmu. NCL CMD Bhola Singh was given this honor for his professional achievements and his immense contribution to the Nation’s coal industry.
Singh received his B.Tech (Hons) in Mining Engineering from the nation's prestigious technical institute, IIT-Kharagpur in 1987. Under the excellent leadership of Singh, NCL is performing well in the current fiscal on all parameters like coal production, coal dispatch and overburden removal, and sustainable mining. Under his leadership, vivid steps have been taken towards sustainable mining and long-term development in NCL like the establishment of an over burden to sand making plant, the establishment of a 50 MW solar power plant, construction of FMC projects for dispatching coal through eco-friendly mode.
Singh has over 35 years of rich experience in reputed public and private sector organizations of the country. Before taking over as CMD of NCL, he was working as Director (Technical) in Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), Ranchi.
Singh has also been awarded the National Mine Safety Award by the Honorable President of India in 2017. He has also written many technical papers on blasting and rock fragmentation and other topics in national and international level journals.
