New Delhi: In a significant step towards fostering indigenous innovation and self-reliance, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) hosted the GRSE Accelerated Innovation Nurturing Scheme (GAINS) 2024 Funding Award Ceremony on Monday. The event marked the formal recognition and funding of two promising entities—Cloudmetica Technologies, a Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME), and IIT Guwahati Technology Innovation and Development Foundation, a start-up—for their breakthrough contributions to shipbuilding and green energy technologies.

At the ceremony, Cmde PR Hari, IN (Retd.), Chairman & Managing Director of GRSE, presented the funding awards to Venkata Padmaja Karlapalem, Founder & CEO of Cloudmetica Technologies, and NN Dutta, CEO of the Technology Innovation Hub at IIT Guwahati, in the presence of Prof NR Mondal, Chair Professor, IIT Guwahati. Also in attendance were GRSE Director (Finance) RK Dash, Director (Shipbuilding) Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN (Retd.), CVO Abhishek Ranjan, IOFS, and other senior officials of GRSE.

Launched on July 10, 2024, by the Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth, the GAINS 2024 initiative attracted 66 innovation proposals from across the country. After a rigorous multi-stage evaluation process, the two winners were selected for their pioneering solutions aimed at transforming ship design and enhancing green energy capabilities.

Speaking on the occasion, GRSE officials reiterated the company’s commitment to promoting innovation under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Start-up India’ missions. Through the GAINS platform, GRSE aims to channel innovation towards national priorities, such as Atmanirbharta (self-reliance), particularly in the strategic domains of defence shipbuilding and sustainable technologies.
