New Delhi: The national seminar on ‘Advanced Iron Ore Beneficiation & Sustainable Low Grade Iron Ore Utilization’ concluded on Saturday, making meaningful strides towards the sustainable growth of the industry. Leaping into the future of iron ore processing, this seminar was organised by the Mining Engineers’ Association of India (MEAI), Hyderabad Chapter and NMDC Limited.
At its valedictory function, Chief Guest NMDC CMD Amitava Mukherjee (Additional Charge) said, “Advanced beneficiation and the sustainable utilization of low-grade iron ore represent a critical challenge and an opportunity for our industry. We at NMDC, have a special focus on maximum resource utilization and circularity. By pushing the boundaries with innovation and technology transfer while committing to ESG, we can not only meet the demands of the present but also secure a resilient and responsible future for the iron ore industry.”
Guests of Honour MEAI's President SN Mathur; Former CMD of NMDC PR Tripathi; and MEAI's Secretary General M Narsaiah along with Presiding Officer Vinay Kumar, NMDC's Director (Technical) and Chairman MEAI, Hyderabad Chapter were also present at the Valedictory ceremony.
During the two days of the conference, three technical sessions were conducted and 14 papers were presented by students, research fellows, and industry experts from University of Hyderabad, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, NMDC, AM/NS, TATA Steel, JSW, and MSPL among others. The final panel discussion deliberated on the way forward and policy interventions required.
MEAI Hyderabad Chapter and NMDC celebrated the stalwarts of the Indian Mining Industry by honouring VS Rao, Former President MEAI; KK Biran, Former President MEAI; PR Tripathi, Former CMD NMDC; SK Agarwal, Former CMD (I/c) NMDC; Murli Manohar, Former Director (Commercial), NMDC; and VD Rajagopal, Former President MEAI for their invaluable contributions.
