Kolkata: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has won another laurel for strategic sourcing, procurement and materials management. NCL's General Manager (Materials Management) Ajit Kumar Singh has been awarded Best CPO (Chief Procurement Officer) Award by Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM).
Singh has been instrumental in implementing e-procurement processes in the company. He also spearheaded the highest procurement by NCL through GeM (Government e-Marketplace) because of which NCL was conferred 'Best Buyer' award at National Public Procurement Enclave-2018. It is worthwhile to note that starting from FY 2017-18 to this date, NCL has procured items worth more than 70 crore from GeM portal.
NCL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) PK Sinha along with functional Directors congratulated Singh for the achievement. Singh attributed the success to the leadership and received accolades and guidance for continued success from Director (Technical/Operations) Gunadhar Pandey and Director (Finance/Personnel) Nag Nath Thakur on Monday at NCL's headquarters. On this occasion, General Manager (HRD) Sanjay Kumar and Chief Manager (IED) MK Singh were also present.
The award was conferred on Singh by National President IIMM on November 29, in Kolkata during 2-Day national convention NATCOM-2019 organised under the aegis of IIMM.
Notably, IIMM is the national apex body of Materials Management professionals. The institute has a wide network of 52 branches and 19 chapters having around 9,500 members from the government, public and private sectors.
