

New Delhi: NTPC Bongaigaon celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium of its 750 MW power station, highlighting its operational performance, technology initiatives and contribution to the power sector.
Addressing the gathering, Business Unit Head Arnab Maitra said that as of August 13, 2026, NTPC Bongaigaon had generated 1,763.86 MUs at a plant load factor (PLF) of 72.59 percent and plant availability of 99.34 percent.

He highlighted key operational milestones, including Unit-1’s record continuous run of 468 days up to April 21, 2026. The unit has also remained free from Boiler Tube Leakage (BTL) for more than 905 days. Unit-3 has completed more than 250 days of continuous operation, surpassing its previous record of 190 days.
Maitra also highlighted the station’s focus on predictive maintenance and technology adoption. An Advanced Pattern Recognition (APR), an AI/ML-based early fault detection system, is being incorporated across all units to strengthen equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
During FY 2025-26, NTPC Bongaigaon achieved its highest-ever annual ash utilisation of 17.94 lakh metric tonnes, representing more than 180 percent utilisation. The station also recorded its highest single-day ash utilisation of 14,737 metric tonnes on February 13, 2026. In the current financial year, ash utilisation had already reached around 6.67 lakh metric tonnes, corresponding to 195.1 percent utilisation.
Maitra appreciated the contribution of employees, departments, associates and partners and called for continued focus on best practices, innovation, CSR, environmental protection, healthcare and safety.

As part of the Independence Day celebrations, HOP Meritorious Awards were presented to 32 employees, while seven employees received Health Champion Awards 2025-26. More than 12 employees were also recognised under the Aawahan Policy, besides awards for various competitions, meritorious students and other achievers.
The celebrations included a ceremonial parade by CISF, DGR Security Services and students of Notre Dame Academy, along with cultural performances by children from Ankur Tiny Tots, Bal Bhawan, the Welfare Wing of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club and Notre Dame Academy.
Independence Day celebrations were also held at various establishments across the NTPC Bongaigaon township. The events reflected the station’s commitment to operational excellence, innovation and community development while celebrating the spirit of national unity and patriotism.
