According to an official statement, this certification was awarded on August 24, and is valid until December 2027. The recognition assumes significance as SAIL also holds its third consecutive ‘Great Place To Work’ certification, which is valid until February 2027.

With both certifications in place concurrently, SAIL has joined the select group of CPSEs to secure two independently validated workplace credentials that assess different aspects of an organisation’s employee and HR practices.

The Top Employer Certification is based on a fact-based assessment of an organisation’s people practices through the HR Best Practices Survey. The assessment covers six key HR domains and 20 strategic topics spanning the employee lifecycle. Submissions are independently validated by qualified HR auditors and benchmarked globally against nearly 2,500 certified employers across 131 countries.

SAIL’s certification recognises its HR initiatives across areas including workplace flexibility, performance management, self-paced learning, succession planning, leadership development, organisational culture, employee engagement and employee wellbeing. The company has also undertaken collaborations with industry leaders and premier institutions for continuous benchmarking of its HR practices.

The Top Employer and Great Place To Work certifications provide complementary assessments of workplace practices. While the Great Place To Work certification is based on the Trust Index, which captures employees’ perceptions of leadership credibility, fairness and pride in their workplace, the Top Employer certification evaluates the maturity and effectiveness of HR systems and processes.

For SAIL, which has more than 47,000 employees across its integrated steel plants and units in India, holding both certifications concurrently represents recognition of both employee experience and the strength of the HR systems supporting it.

The dual recognition reinforces SAIL’s positioning as an employer of choice and provides independent external validation of its workplace culture and people-management practices.
