

New Delhi: On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti and the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) organised the second edition of the ‘SECL Vishwakarma Awards’ at its Headquarters in Bilaspur on Thursday. A total of 75 workers, who have made notable contributions to SECL’s mining and operational activities, were felicitated on the occasion.

The programme was attended by SECL's Director (Human Resources) Biranchi Das, Director (Technical/Operations) Ramesh Chandra Mohapatra, and Director (Technical/Projects & Planning) Nripendra Nath, along with members of the Steering Committee, Welfare Board, Safety Committee, representatives of trade unions, CISTEA, OBC, SC/ST and other associations, Heads of Departments, and officers and employees from SECL’s operating areas.
Organised on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, the ceremony recognised 75 regular and contractual employees for their exemplary contribution in operations, maintenance, supervisory and other technical activities at SECL’s mines. The second edition of the SECL Vishwakarma Awards reflects the company’s continued endeavour to recognise and appreciate the contribution of its frontline workforce.
Speaking on the occasion, Das said that Lord Vishwakarma symbolises creation, skill and dedication to work. He said that the workers engaged in the mining industry are making a significant contribution to the nation’s energy security through their skill, hard work and commitment. He added that felicitating the workers on Vishwakarma Jayanti and the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a gesture of respect and gratitude for their contribution.
During the programme, a message conveyed by the Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy for the coal workers was also read out. The message highlighted the significant contribution of coal workers towards the country’s energy security and development, and expressed appreciation for their hard work, dedication and role in nation-building.

As part of the activities under Swachhata Hi Seva and Special Campaign 6.0, sanitation workers who contribute to maintaining cleanliness and ensuring clean and well-organised workplaces at SECL were also felicitated to acknowledge their efforts and encourage them.
On the occasion, the importance of making cleanliness an integral part of the daily work culture and maintaining workplaces that are clean, safe and well-organised was emphasised.
Under Special Campaign 6.0, various activities are being undertaken across SECL Headquarters and its operating areas, focusing on cleanliness, disposal of pending matters, optimum utilisation of space, records management and effective management of e-waste, among other initiatives.
The programme organised on Vishwakarma Jayanti and the birthday of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi carried a message of respect for work, recognition of skill, commitment to cleanliness and dedication towards the nation’s energy security.
