The award has been received by SECL's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Harish Duhan at a ceremony held in New Delhi on Friday.
According to the company, the award recognises SECL's efforts in environmental conservation, promotion of green energy, scientific mine closure, land reclamation and the adoption of environmentally sustainable mining technologies and practices.
In a major operational milestone, SECL said it has crossed 50 MT of coal production in FY 2026-27, becoming the first Coal India subsidiary to achieve the feat during the current fiscal. The company recorded a 9.5 percent year-on-year growth in coal production over the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
The milestone was driven by strong performance from SECL's major mining projects. Dipka Project produced 11.8 MT, followed by Gevra Project with 11.7 MT and Kusmunda Project with 9.7 MT. CIC Coalfields contributed 8.8 MT, while Raigarh Area produced 5.9 MT and Korba Area recorded 2.1 MT, collectively supporting the company's production growth.

Commenting on the achievement, Duhan said the award reflects SECL's commitment to sustainable development and responsible mining.
"Environmental conservation and energy security are equally important pillars of our growth strategy. While we continue to promote responsible and environment-friendly mining practices, we remain equally committed to meeting the nation's growing energy requirements through safe, efficient and technology-driven mining operations," he said.
SECL said it remains focused on strengthening the country's energy security through the adoption of modern mining technologies, improved operational efficiency and sustainable mining practices while continuing to set benchmarks in environmentally responsible coal production.
