New Delhi: NTPC Talcher Thermal reaffirmed its commitment to a cleaner and greener environment by organising a vibrant Swachhata Pakhwada from September 14 to October 2. This initiative aligned with the national "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan", fostering a collective spirit of cleanliness and community engagement.
During the two-week-long campaign, Talcher Thermal organised a variety of activities aimed at raising awareness about cleanliness, both within the plant premises and in nearby communities. These activities included the distribution of sanitation supplies in local schools to promote hygiene among students, a walkathon to encourage community participation in cleanliness efforts, competitions at government schools to inspire students to think critically about cleanliness, and Nukkad Nataks (street plays) performed in major market areas to creatively engage the public on the importance of maintaining clean surroundings.
Additionally, a special Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir was conducted, where cleaning staff were made aware of health-related issues, and a special health check-up was organised for them.
On this occasion, Head of Project & CGM at Talcher Thermal Vijay Chand emphasised the importance of such initiatives, stating, “Swachhata is not just an initiative but a responsibility for each one of us. At Talcher Thermal, we are committed to sustaining cleanliness and environmental stewardship in our community and workplace. Through our combined efforts, we can build a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future.”
The Swachhata Pakhwada concluded on October 2, 2024, with a large-scale plantation drive, symbolizing the organization’s dedication to a green and sustainable environment. Multiple saplings were planted, reinforcing Talcher Thermal’s continuous efforts toward environmental conservation. The campaign was a resounding success, with active participation from employees, their families, and the local community, all coming together to support a cleaner and greener future.
