New Delhi: The Centre has appointed Rajeev Mishra as Electrical Inspector to the government for Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). In a notification published in the official gazette on May 4, the Ministry of Power said, "… — in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section(1) of Section 162 of the Electricity Act, 2003 (36 of 2003) read with Qualifications, Powers and Functions for Chief Electrical Inspector and Electrical Inspectors Rules, 2006 (herein after called the said Rules) notified on 17.08.2006 and as amended on 16.05.2016, the Central Government hereby appoints Shri Rajeev Mishra, Chief Engineer (Rolling Stock II), BMRCL as Electrical Inspector to Government for Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) from the date of this notification till the end of his tenure in BMRCL or till further orders, whichever is earlier, subject to fulfilment of the qualifications and conditions as mentioned in the said Rules."

"The above mentioned officer shall exercise the powers and perform his functions in respect of electrical works, electrical installations and electrical rolling stock in operation within the areas occupied by BMRCL or in respect of works and all electrical installations under the control of BMRCL/belonging to BMRCL as per the procedure provided in Central Electricity Authority (Measures relating to Safety and Electricity Supply) Regulations, 2010, as amended from time to time," said the notification.

However, Mishra will not be permitted to function as the Electrical Inspector in respect of any electrical work or installation, the execution or maintenance of which is his responsibility, the notification added. "The person appointed as Electrical Inspector shall undergo such training as the Central Government may consider necessary for the purpose and such training shall have to be completed to the satisfaction of the Government," it said.
