Govt appoints Swaminathan Janakiraman & Aswini Kumar Tewari as MDs of SBI

• ACC has cleared the appointment of Swaminathan Janakiraman and Ashwini Kumar Tewari as Managing Directors (MDs) of SBI

• DoPT released the appointment order on Wednesday, both currently working with SBI

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointments of Swaminathan Janakiraman and Ashwini Kumar Tewari as Managing Directors (MDs) of the State Bank of India (SBI) on Wednesday. Currently, both of them are working with SBI.

According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Janakiraman has been appointed as MD in SBI for a period of three years with effect from the date of assumption of office, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as Chairman of the SBI Payments Board.

Further, Tewari has also been appointed as MD in SBI for a period of three years with effect from the date of assumption of office, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of SBI Card since August 1, 2010. With his new assignment, Tewari had succeeded Hardayal Prasad who retired on July 31, 2020.
