New Delhi: SJVN Limited, a Miniratna hydropower generation PSU under the Ministry of Power, on Thursday said that the state government of Himachal Pradesh has awarded 501 MW hydropower projects to the company. The projects will be developed on Chenab Basin in Himachal Pradesh, the power PSU said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges.
The company informed BSE, "Government of Himachal Pradesh in its cabinet meeting held on 23.12.2020 decided to allot 104 MW Tandi, 130 MW Rashil and 267 MW Sach Khas hydroelectric projects (total 501 MW) on Chenab Basin in Himachal Pradesh to the Company."
The state Cabinet in its meeting held on December 23, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, has given consent for allotment of 104 MW Tandi, 130 MW Rashil and 267 MW Sach Khas hydro-electric projects on Chenab Basin to SJVNL Limited. The projects will be developed on similar term and conditions as those mandated for three other Chenab Basin projects that have been granted to SJVN.

SJVN Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the administrative control of Ministry of Power, was incorporated on May 24, 1988, as a joint venture of the government and the state government of Himachal Pradesh. SJVN is now a listed company where 61.93 percent is held by the Central government, 26.85 percent is with the government of Himachal Pradesh and the rest 11.22 percent is with the public, according to the company's website. SJVN's present installed capacity is 2,016.51 MW and projects of 5,674 MW are under various stages of development. SJVN has a presence in various sectors of energy generation which includes hydro, wind & solar. The company also has a presence in the field of energy transmission.
