New Delhi: Pankaj Sharma has been nominated as Director on the Board of the Punjab National Bank (PNB). According to an order issued by the Ministry of Finance, Sharma has been nominated as a Director of the Bank in terms of the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance in place of Pankaj Jain, who ceased to be a director on the Board of the Bank upon such nomination on April 11, 2022. He has been appointed to the post with immediate effect and until further orders.

This information has been shared by the Bank in a regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Tuesday.

Sharma is presently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance. "There is no inter se relationship between Shri Pankaj Sharma and the other directors of the Bank," the PNB further added in the filing.

Punjab National Bank (PNB) is an Indian nationalised bank, headquartered in New Delhi. It is under the ownership of the Ministry of Finance. The bank was founded in May 1894 and is the second-largest government-owned bank in India, both in terms of its business volumes and its network. The bank has over 180 million customers, 12,248 branches, and 13,000+ ATMs.
