New Delhi: Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) celebrated Independence Day with patriotic zeal and enthusiasm on August 15. On the occasion, GRSE's Chairman & Managing Director Cmde PR Hari IN (Retd) hoisted the National Flag at GRSE Bhavan in the presence of GRSE's Director (Finance) RK Dash, Director (Shipbuilding) Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN (Retd) and other senior officials and employees of GRSE.

As part of the "Har Ghar Tiranga" initiative under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, GRSE organised a series of events from August 8 to August 13, starting with the distribution of flags to students at Sister Nivedita University (SNU), Kolkata. GRSE organised Swachhta Abhiyaan around 11 prominent monuments in Kolkata including the Victoria Memorial and a Rally from its Main Works Shipbuilding Unit to 61 Park Engineering Unit. Flags were distributed to local school children & employees & a Quiz Contest organised on "India's Freedom Struggle" for employees. The winners of the quiz Contest were awarded today.

In his address, Cmde Hari greeted all employees and appreciated their determined efforts to take the organisation forward despite several challenges. While urging employees to keep the sacrifices made by the country's freedom fighters in mind, he stated that Freedom does not come Free and every employee in whichever sphere they are, need to give their best & that would be the contribution they make towards the Shipyard and the Nation. He congratulated one and all on the stellar financial results of the shipyard. Four ship launches including the launch of prestigious P17A Advanced Frigate, Dunagiri being built for Indian Navy, Export Vessel for Guyana, FPV for Indian Coast Guard & 2nd SVL Nirdeshak for Indian Navy along with simultaneous keel laying of 3 ships and start production for 01, made it a "Happening Quarter 1 FY 22-23'', he said. To top it all, under its "Go Green Initiative'', GRSE has signed a Contract with the Government of West Bengal for design and development of a Next Generation Electric Ferry, he mentioned.

The CMD also appreciated the efforts put in by the CISF and Security Personnel of GRSE in safeguarding the premier shipyard of the country. The CMD concluded by reaffirming GRSE's resolve to provide quality ships to the nation's maritime forces and remain committed to the national objective of achieving Self Reliance as the nation marches towards India 2.0.
