Kolkata: Garden Reach & Shipbuilding Limited (GRSE) is actively involved in its efforts to contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), particularly in the area surrounding the factory premises, the company said on Saturday. As face masks are one of the significant protective equipment to protect people from COVID-19, GRSE distributed 18,000 masks to the needy and vulnerable section of the locality under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative on April 30. Previously, 4,500 masks and 1,500 soaps were distributed in two separate instances to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the local community.

GRSE has also distributed food grains on April 30, to the local administration towards distribution among the needy and poor people residing in the neighbourhood who are unable to earn their livelihood due to the countrywide lockdown. Around 2,250 kg rice, 900 kg pulses and 900 kg potatoes were distributed to 450 underprivileged families living in the local slum areas of Metiabruz in Kolkata.

The police, who are actually the frontline COVID-19 warriors, are also being supported by GRSE from time to time. In continuation of its' earlier endeavours, 650 masks and 650 soaps were handed over to different police stations under DC port on April 30.
