New Delhi: The 75 years of India’s Independence “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” was celebrated with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL). GSL’s Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay hoisted the National flag at GSL campus, which was synchronized with the singing of the national anthem, followed by cultural programmes by GSL personnel and school children and the display of martial arts by CISF contingent.

Upadhyay in his address said “In spite of the challenging business environment due to COVID-19 pandemic and Geo-political disturbances, GSL has shown strong resilience and has achieved multiple important milestones in all domains of its operations, including ship repairs and diversification. These milestones include delivery of 5 nos. Offshore Patrol Vessels to Indian Coast Guards, all within contractual timelines. We have bagged various high-value orders recently, including prestigious export orders, amid stiff competition from both public as well private shipyards. Today, GSL has the highest ever Order book position, which will translate into rapid and stable growth in terms of revenue and profit, taking it to the league of premier shipbuilding yards in the next three years.” CMD urged employees & executives to adopt innovative methods and increased use of emerging technologies like Automation, AI etc in their area of work, in order to further boost productivity and to offer high-tech products to its customers for varied operations. Upadhyay complemented the Corona warriors from the Medical dept, Administration and CISF for their invaluable contributions in GSL’s continuous fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the celebrations, outstanding employees were felicitated with ‘Commendation Awards’ and ‘Special Commendation Awards’ for exemplary work in their respective areas.
