Gulabbhai Lakhubhai Rohit appointed as Independent Director on SCI’s Board

New Delhi: Gulabbhai Lakhubhai Rohit has been appointed as an Independent Director on the Board of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) Limited. The Ministry of Port, Shipping and Waterways has appointed Rohit as an Independent Director on the Board of SCI with effect from November 22, said the Navratna shipping PSU in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Friday.

Rohit is a post graduate from South Gujarat University, and holds an MBA from IIFCM and AMFI and has qualified CA (Inter). He has been doing tax consultancy since September 5, 1997, as an Income Tax practitioner, VAT practitioner and as GST practitioner since July 2017. He is also an investment advisor in Insurance Sectors and Mutual Fund sectors. He has an overall 24 years' experience in accounting, taxations, (direct and indirect taxation) internal audits and tax audits and managing investment portfolio of customers. Also, he is an industrial consultant for factories and pollution matters.

SCI is a Navratna PSU with its headquarters in Mumbai. The company operates and manages vessels that service both national and international lines. The company was established on October 2, 1961, by the amalgamation of Eastern Shipping Corporation and Western Shipping Corporation.
