Bengaluru: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's (HAL) Supersonic Omni Role Trainer Aircraft (SPORT) simulator is, for the first time, ready to be positioned at Aero India from February 20. The state-run defence firm has also taken a leading role in conducting the five-day event at the Air Force Station in Bengaluru. During the event, HAL will not just provide logistic support, but will demonstrate its aerospace and defensive prowess centred on the theme 'Innovate, Integrate and Lead.'

"HAL is poised to tap into the opportunities during forthcoming Aero India and will highlight its indigenously designed and developed fixed and rotary wing platforms, technologies covering power plants and latest R&D offerings. HAL is an industry leader and will continue to leave a mark as a formidable player in the domestic and global defence market," R Madhavan, CMD, HAL.

Madhavan added that the defence company is "keen to launch the indigenous development of SPORT (Aircraft) with 4++ generation or equivalent capabilities to bridge the gap in pilot training to command front line fighters." The SPORT simulator will also be used for training fighters following an advanced jet training stage prior to the induction of pilots into a frontline fighter squadron.

Other key attractions at the pavilion

The aerospace corner, virtual and holographic room and Jaguar aircraft simulator will be the other star attractions at the pavilion. The demonstration of tail boom folding and main rotor folding of the Naval Utility Helicopter (NUH), as a Technology Demonstrator, is another key draw at the HAL pavilion.

Additionally, HAL's indigenous products Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, first indigenously upgraded Hawk Mk132, named Hawk-I, HTT-40 (Basic Trainer Aircraft), Advanced Light Helicopter (Rudra), Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Civil Do-228 will fly at the show.
