Howdy Modi in Houston: PM meets energy sector CEOs

Houston, USA: While Howdy Modi is making headlines here in India and USA, let's tell you how PM Modi began his week-long US visit. On the day-1 PM Modi attended a meeting with energy sector CEOs in Houston, soon as he landed. During his meeting with Oil company CEOs, India's Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) importer Petronet India and Tellurian signed MoUs for up to five million tonnes per annum (5mtpa) of LNG through equity investment in Driftwood. Petronet India will be investing $2.5 billion in US LNG developer Tellurian Inc. The agreement was signed in the presence of PM Modi on the first day of his week-long US visit.

"Further energising India-USA friendship. Among the first engagements of PM @narendramodi in Houston is a meeting with CEOs from the energy sector. India and USA are looking to diversify cooperation in this sector," the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a tweet.

Ministry of External Affairs said PM Modi had a "fruitful" meeting with CEOs from the energy sector on the first day of his week-long US visit, in one of its tweets.

"Getting straight to business. PM @narendramodi just concluded a fruitful interaction with top energy sector CEOs at a Roundtable meeting in #Houston. Discussion focussed on working together for energy security and expanding mutual investment opportunities between India & US," MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.

Prime Minister is addressing over 50,000 Indian-Americans at the "Howdy Modi" event on Sunday, in which he will be joined by US President Donald Trump. The historic event of its kind is taking place in the sprawling NRG football stadium. The 'texas size' of the gathering at the stadium will be the largest ever for an elected foreign leader visiting the US, other than the Pope.

Earlier at his arrival to the US PM Modi received a warm welcome by the US external affairs and trade officials and Indian diaspora based out in the USA.
