In 2019, Netflix will drop 9 new series in India. Here is the line-up

What’s more, is that Netflix has eight more original movies set to be released this year in addition to the five already released  New Delhi: In keeping with the growing competition in India’s over-the-top (OTT) video services market, global video streaming market leader, Netflix Inc, has announced a line-up of at least nine original series in the country. The line-up for this year also includes the much-awaited Baahubali: Before The Beginning, Midnight’s Children, Delhi Crime among others. What's more, is that Netflix has eight more original movies set to be released 2019 in addition to the five already released. Amazon Prime and home-grown rival Hotstar have also made big plans for the year. From next month, market leader Hotstar is debuting with original programming, having partnered with 15 film-makers, including Salman Khan and Shekhar Kapur, to produce exclusive content. Amazon Prime aims to double its original content offerings for 2019. List of Netflix India’s upcoming series for 2019: 1) Delhi Crime: The police-procedural thriller, written and directed by Richie Mehta, award-winning Indo-Canadian filmmaker, will be available from March 22 to Netflix users around the world. The seven-part series, starring Shefali Shah, is based on the brutal 2012 gangrape case in New Delhi. 2) Bard of Blood: The series, set against the backdrop of the Indian subcontinent, revolving around the story of expelled Indian intelligence agent Kabir Anand, who is recalled from his new life as an English professor in Panchgani to save his nation and a long-lost love. 3) Baahubali: Before The Beginning is based on the global blockbuster franchise, Baahubali. The two-season series, Baahubali: Before the Beginning, will be a prequel to Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion (both of which are currently available on Netflix to audiences around the world). 4) Leila: Based on a book by Prayaag Akbar, the series, which includes Huma Qureshi in the title role and Siddharth Suryanarayan, tells the story of Shalini, a free-thinking woman in search of the daughter she lost upon her arrest 16 years earlier. 5) Crocodile: This Netflix Original is a young adult murder mystery thriller series set in the seaside state of Goa. After her best friend goes missing, Mira starts her own investigation, bringing to light secrets among her friends, romantic relationships and community. 6) Typewriter: A Netflix Original that follows the story of a haunted house and a group of young, hopeful ghost hunters of Goa. 7) Midnight’s Children: Based on Midnight’s Children, Salman Rushdie’s seminal work of fiction, revolves around the life of Saleem Sinai, born on the stroke of midnight on August 15, 1947, the time of India’s independence. 8) Mighty Little Bheem: Netflix’s first Indian animated original series is based on Chhota Bheem, one of the best-loved characters in the country. 9) Mumbai Indians: An original unscripted series on IPL franchise Mumbai Indians, the series will cover unseen aspects of the team, the compelling stories and characters that bind them with the vibrant city they call home.
