SJVN Foundation, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Hill Agriculture & Rural Development Promotion Society (HARP) have signed an MoU for conducting Integrated Tribal Development Program for Bari and Tranda Panchayats of Nichar Block in District, Kinnaur (HP)

New Delhi: SJVN Foundation, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Hill Agriculture & Rural Development Promotion Society (HARP) have signed an MoU for conducting Integrated Tribal Development Program for Bari and Tranda Panchayats of Nichar Block in District, Kinnaur (HP). The MoU has been signed in the presence of SJVN Limited's Director (Personnel) Geeta Kapur in Shimla on Thursday.

This Integrated Tribal Development Program for Bari and Tranda Panchayats situated around 15,00 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station will have the financial implication of Rs 537.71 Lakh for a period of six years. For this program, SJVN Foundation will extend financial support of Rs 222.33 lakh, NABARD will extend financial support of Rs 165.72 lakh and remaining amount will be the contribution of the villagers in the form of Shramdaan or Manpower. HARP will be the Project Implementing Agency (PIA) for a period of six years. This information has been given by the SJVN Limited in a press release on Thursday.

The MoU has been executed with the objective to provide a sustainable horticulture-based livelihood to 255 resource-poor tribal farmers of Gram Panchayats Tranda and Bari. The program aims:

•    To build the technical & managerial capacity of the targeted farmers.
•    To provide assured irrigation to the orchards established under the project.
•    To create a sustainable employment opportunity during and after project for the rural poor.
•    To create awareness in the community especially women folks regarding health and sanitation.

SJVN Limited has been implementing CSR activities in and around its area of operations and making a significant contribution to the improvement of quality of life of stakeholders. SJVN undertakes CSR and Sustainability programs in six verticals namely, health & hygiene, education & skill development, sustainable development, infrastructure & community development, assistance during natural disasters, promotion of culture, heritage & sports.

On this occasion SJVN Limited's Chief General Manager DP Kaushal, Senior Assistant General Manager (CSR) Awadhesh Prasad, Senior (HR) Dhiraj Gupta, Deputy Manager Harsh Jain from SJVN, NABARD's Chief General Manager Dr DK Kapila, General Manager Dr Sudhanshu KK Mishra, Deputy General Manager Dr BR Premi and DDM (Kinnaur) Vijay Singh, Assistant Manager Sneh Pandey, Assistant Manager Amit Kumar Barnwal from NABARD and HARP's Chairman Dr RS Ratan were present.
