New Delhi: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is flagging off its first Tejas Express on Delhi-Lucknow route with a bunch of lucrative offers. People travelling onboard IRCTC's Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express will get a free rail travel insurance of Rs 25 lakh, option to get their luggage ferried from their homes to seats at a cost and access to exclusive lounges for relaxing, the state-run company said in an official release. The train will start plying from next month.

"Passengers of IRCTC's Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express to get free Rs 25 lakh rail travel insurance. The passengers of this train will also be given the facility of using retiring rooms at Lucknow junction station and executive lounge at New Delhi Railway station and lounge for meetings on demand," the release said.

No booking at Railway reservation counters

There will be no booking at railway reservation counters for this train. However, passengers can get their tickets booked through IRCTC authorised agents. Train will also be available for booking through IRCTC' online travel portal partners like Paytm, Ixigo, PhonePe, Make My Trip, Google, Ibibo, Railyatri etc, IRCTC said.

These trains will have advance reservation period of 60 days. Initial trips will be booked on less than 60 days also till such time dates neutralise, keeping in mind the train launch date and opening of first booking.

Train fare will be dynamic

Train fare will be dynamic in nature keeping in consideration the prevailing bus, taxi, rail and airfares. Train will have different series of fares for lean, busy and festive seasons. February, March and August months of the calendar year will form the lean season. Further, train fares will be on point to point basis.

No Tatkal quota

There will be no tatkal quota or premium tatkal quota in these trains. There will be only General Quota and Foreign Tourist Quota. Foreign Tourist Quota of 5 seats in EC and 50 seats in CC will be available for Foreign Tourists.

In case of cancellation of train, automatic full refund of full fare on confirmed and /or waitlisted e-tickets will be made. There will be no need of cancelling the ticket or filing TDR in such case.

The backdrop

The Delhi-Lucknow and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express trains will be the first trains to be run by IRCTC. The move is part of a pilot programme launched by the Railways as it mulls handing over certain trains to private operators.
