Power Grid invites job applications for CMD post; apply before June 9

New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has released a formal notification inviting applications for the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Power. The vacancy for the top post will arise on April 1, 2026.

As per the advertisement dated May 13, the CMD will serve as the Chief Executive of the company and will be responsible for the overall functioning, strategic direction, and achievement of corporate objectives in line with the expectations of the Board of Directors and the Government of India. The selected candidate will also be accountable to shareholders and other stakeholders.

Role and Responsibilities

The CMD of POWERGRID is expected to lead the company’s mission by formulating policies and strategies that ensure operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and alignment with national energy goals. The individual will be required to engage with diverse stakeholders including government bodies, regulators, and industry partners, while overseeing major projects, innovations, and technology integrations to modernise the grid infrastructure.

The appointment process will be conducted by the PESB and is open to eligible candidates as per the norms governing appointments to board-level positions in CPSEs

Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria and possessing the required experience are invited to apply through the PESB portal or by submitting their applications to the board within the stipulated time frame. The selection process will include scrutiny, shortlisting, and interviews conducted by the PESB.
