DHI’s Joint Secretary Amit Mehta appointed as part-time Director of BHEL

New Delhi: Department of Heavy Industry's (DHI) Joint Secretary Amit Mehta has been appointed as part-time Official Director on the Board of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on Wednesday. According to an order issued on August 31, from the Department of Heavy Industries under Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, he has been assigned to the post with effect from September 2. With assumption the charge of the post, he has replaced Amit Varadan, who superannuated on the same day. This information has been shared by the PSU during a regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Wednesday.

Amit Mehta's profile

Mehta holds a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from II- Roorkee. He is presently posted as Joint Secretary in the Department of Heavy Industry under the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. Prior to his present posting in the Department of Heavy Industry, he was Joint Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, where he dealt with issues related to consumer protection, policy matters related to the Consumer Protection Act and the Legal Metrology Act.

Amit Mehta joined the Indian Ordnance Factory Service in May 1988. During his tenure in the Ordnance Factories, he has worked in various divisions at various levels and has a rich experience of working in areas related to production, planning, quality control, maintenance and public procurement. He has also worked as Director in the Department of Food & Public Distribution under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution.
