New Delhi: Subhash Chand Gupta is set to be the next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC), a PSU under the Ministry of Railways. Gupta has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), a head-hunter body, on Saturday. He is currently serving as Director (Way & Works) of Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL).

Gupta has been recommended for the post of CMD of MRVC from a list of three candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel in their selection meeting held on December 18. There were two other candidates, who were on the list, were from Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) and Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) respectively.

Gupta is an Engineering Graduate (BE in Civil Engineering) from the Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur and M Tech (Soil Mech. & Foundation Engineering) from IIT-Delhi. He has over three decades of experience in the railway sector. He has served Indian Railways for over 24 years and over three years in RITES Limited. He Joined Konkan Railways in January 2019 as Director (Way & Works).

Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) is under the ownership of Indian Railways, Ministry of Railways. It was incorporated on 12 July 1999 with an equity capital of Rs 25 crore shared in the ratio of 51:49 between the Ministry of Railways and the Government of Maharashtra. MRVC is responsible to execute the projects under Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) as sanctioned by the Ministry of Railways for enhancing suburban rail transportation capacity thereby reducing overcrowding and meeting future traffic requirements. The corporation will also be involved in the planning and development of the Mumbai Suburban Rail system.
