New Delhi: Kshitij Jain (IRS) has been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defence. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Jain is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of 2011-batch. He was recommended for the Central deputation by the Department of Revenue. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Ministry of Defence," the order further added.

Ministry of Defence (MoD)

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is charged with coordinating and supervising all agencies and functions of the government relating directly to national security and the Indian armed forces. The President of India is the ceremonial commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the country. The Ministry of Defence provides policy framework and resources to the armed forces to discharge their responsibility in the context of the defence of the country. The Indian Armed Forces (including the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy) and Indian Coast Guard under the Ministry of Defence are primarily responsible for ensuring the territorial integrity of India.
