Kolkata: NCL CMD PK Sinha said that the coal industry is crucial to the nation's economy and the industry is largely credited for ensuring the energy security of the country. Addressing the gathering at the 8th Asian Mining Congress of mining mavens and experts, Sinha said that the mining sector is rapidly undergoing major changes. The event was organised by Mining Geological and Metallurgical Institute (MGMI) on Friday at Kolkata. A large number of mining stalwarts from across the world participated and brainstormed during the AMC.
Emphasizing on sustainable mining as the way forward, Sinha said it is important for miners to be future-ready, both in terms of expertise and approach. He also highlighted the role of MGMI in the backdrop of changing industry dynamics coupled with ever-growing aspirations of the nation from the mining and mineral sector.
On this occasion, Northern Coalfields Limited's (NCL) Deputy General Manager (Jayant area) RK Singh was conferred 'HB Ghosh Memorial Award' for 'Best Safety Performance' in opencast mines.
Mining Geological and Metallurgical Institute (MGMI) is a renowned institute of mining professionals. It was established in 1906. The institute has been instrumental in being the cohesive force of the sector, thereby establishing newer dimensions in the mining sector of the country for more than 100 years. Presently, NCL's CMD PK Sinha is Vice President of the institute.
The Asian Mining Congress (AMC) is the flagship International event organised by MGMI once in every two years in which mining and mineral professionals from across the globe participate.
