New Delhi: Dhirendra Singh Rana is set to take over as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Engineering Projects (India) Limited (EPIL) soon. He is currently serving as the Director of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL). Rana's name was shortlisted by the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) after interviewing a total of eight candidates.
A total of six candidates who were interviewed for the job were from within EPIL itself. Barring Rana, there was another candidate from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).
Rana holds a BE degree from MITS Gwalior, a PGDM in Project Management from Institute of Economic Studies and a postgraduate degree in hydroelectric structures from NIT Bhopal. Since 2007, he has been engaged in the planning and execution of a major capacity augmentation initiative taken by the government under which about 3,500 km of Heavy Haul Rail Routes (Dedicated Freight Corridors), costing about $12 billion, will be added to the existing network, linking major ports, mines, with industrial hubs.
