New Delhi: Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency's (IREDA) Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Pradip Kumar Das addressed an International Conference on "Human Capital Development for Energy Transition" on February 27. The conference was organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology.

IREDA CMD recalled the statement made by the Prime Minister in a post-Budget webinar focusing on green growth, “the potential of solar, wind and biogas in India is no less than any gold mine or oil field for our private sector” and stressed that renewable energy sources could generate a huge number of green jobs in the years to come.

Das said that, "Human Capital is the driving factor for sustainable success of any organisation, country and society. The effective investment in human capital is essential for development and offers significant long-term economic advantages.”

Speaking on energy transition and decarbonization, CMD emphasized that achieving net-zero is not just about reducing greenhouse gas emissions, India’s energy transition needs to benefit its citizens to ensure that everyone can breathe clean air and live in a clean and healthy environment. He underlined that Green Hydrogen, and its derivatives would play a major role in achieving the net zero and decarbonising target set by the Government.

Speaking on IREDA's phenomenal growth over the past three years, Das reaffirmed that the organisation has been striving to uphold the highest standards of Corporate Governance by putting the 3Cs principles of conviction, commitment and clarity into practice. He emphasized how the organisation has grown its loan book over the last three years from Rs 23,548 crores to Rs 38,000 crores (approx.) and been able to reduce its net NPAs from 7.18 percent to 2.03 percent.

In his closing remarks, the CMD urged the students to contribute to the effort to reduce pollution as India cannot reach its Net-Zero target by the year 2070 without support and effective participation of every citizen of the country.
