New Delhi: NHPC Limited, India's premier hydropower company, achieved its highest-ever electricity (Power) generation by generating 24,209 million units (MUs) (up to February 23) in the current year (FY2019-20). NHPC has thus, surpassed its previous year (FY 2018-19) generation of 24,193 MUs. This is the highest-ever generation by NHPC since its incorporation in November 1975.
The news comes barely a month after NHPC was chosen by the Committee of Creditors (CoC) of Jal Power Corporation Limited (120 MW Rangit Stage IV HE Project) for the resolution of the bankruptcy case, subject to the approval of the resolution plan by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Hyderabad Bench.
State-of-Art 'Data Centre' was inaugurated at NHPC's corporate office, Faridabad which is designed to meet the modern-day high-volume computing needs of NHPC's enterprise-wide data of ERP, e-Office, legacy systems and email.
NHPC has implemented an information security management system (ISMS) in accordance with ISMS 27001:2013 for IT & Communication Division and Data Centre at the corporate office.
NHPC's Salal Power Station has recorded its highest ever generation of 35,92 MUs (achieved on Januaury 27) since its commissioning.
The cumulative power generation of all NHPC power stations stands at 23,335 MUs up to the month of January 2020.
NHPC Limited, formerly known as National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited, was incorporated on November 7, 1975, as a Central government enterprise for the development of hydropower. It is a Miniratna PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power.
