New Delhi: Even though state-run NBCC's order book stands at Rs 84,000 crores, projects worth Rs 34,000 crores are stalled. This works out to around 40.48 percent of the total order book. "See the total value of the project, PMC project which are stuck up is around Rs 34,000 crores, there are some new projects, like IDA projects are there, the projects with DOA is also stuck up, so these projects are PMC project-only. The real estate is different but the redevelopment projects… are considered as PMC projects only, so overall Rs 34,000-crore projects are held up," NBCC Director (Projects) Neelesh Shah said.
NBCC has got orders worth Rs 10,200 crores so far, CMD PK Gupta was quoted as saying in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges detailing an investor conference call. "Till now we have received orders for Rs 10,200 crores and many more orders are in the pipeline, the tenders have been submitted and discussions are on, and which will materialise before year-end," said Gupta.
Commenting on the NBCC's order book status, an investor asked why even though the public sector company is receiving orders worth Rs 10,000-20,000 crores every year, the execution remains as low as Rs 7,000-8,000 crores.
Responding to this question, Gupta said, "The Amrapali project that has been awarded by the Supreme Court is taking place. We are handing over 600 houses very shortly after the completion of finishing work. And the Supreme Court has given us a go ahead to go with tender for work worth Rs 700 crores for more than 1,000 houses. So, this is one thing that is coming in the immediate future. We are going ahead with the tender. And then under this MOU with Andhra Pradesh government, which we signed recently, the state is very keen to take up the work immediately. So, this project will also come up in the immediate future and the second one to likely start in the financial year.
